About Dissertation Completion Fellowships Dissertation completion fellowships provide support to Ph.D. students during the final year of dissertation writing, defense, and submission. These awards typically consist of a stipend to allow the student to devote him/herself full time to writing during the final months of the dissertation process The student must be engaged full-time in the completion of the research and writing of the dissertation, including continued communication with the major professor/s. Dissertation Completion Fellowships support final-year doctoral students. These non-service fellowships allow students to focus exclusively on their research and writing without service obligations. Fellows are expected to defend their dissertation by the end of the academic year.

Royster SOF fellowships may also provide funds for professional travel. Check with your department for an internal deadline. You must submit your application early enough for your department to submit their nomination to The Graduate School by the nomination deadline. Deadlines are posted on the funding deadlines calendar.
